About Us

Meet the experienced team working with Traintalk.

BETH SHELLEY

Beth qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) in 2004 and since then has worked with children, their families and teaching staff across a range of environments in both the UK and in New Zealand.

Beth was a Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy for 3 years before having her daughter, combining this role with her clinical post in the Northamptonshire NHS team. Beth worked as an Early Language Consultant for the Government initiative ‘Every Child a Talker’. She is an Elklan tutor, a licensed I CAN tutor and a Hanen-certified SLT, able to provide the ‘It Takes Two to Talk’ programme for parents.  In November 2022 Beth is due to complete the ‘Introduction to PROMPT’ training to extend her knowledge and skills working with children with motor speech difficulties.

Beth holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. In August 2019 Beth was awarded an NHS Quality Care award for her work on developing a care pathway for children with Selective Mutism in Northamptonshire.

Beth’s areas of clinical interest and specialisms are language delay/disorder, speech delay/disorder and pre-school selective mutism.

Beth’s other passion is training, and she has been involved in various projects with Elklan, including the delivery of the 3-5s and 5-11s accredited courses and tutoring of the Nuffield Early Language Intervention (NELI), and Early Years Professional Development Programme, supporting practitioners across the country both on-line and in-person.

JENNY CASTLEDINE

Jenny qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) in 2006 and worked in different roles within the NHS until she left to work independently in 2019 to enable her to spend more time with her young children. Jenny spent 7 years as the lead Speech and Language Therapist within a pre-school language provision where she managed caseloads of children who presented with severe speech and language disorders. Through this role she oversaw a small team of practitioners and worked closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to provide intensive daily therapy.

Jenny has worked within a range of settings which has given her a breadth of experience working with pre-school and school-aged children. Jenny was part of a team who developed the clinical pathway for children who stammer in Northamptonshire. She has extensive experience of supporting pre-school children who stammer using evidenced-based approaches such as the Lidcombe Programme and Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. Jenny was nominated for an NHS Quality Award by a family she had supported.

Jenny is an Elklan Tutor and has delivered 3-5s and 5-11s courses and been heavily involved in the Early Years Professional Development Programme.  Jenny’s areas of clinical interest and specialism are language delay/ disorder, speech delay/disorder and pre-school stammering.
